Review: Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters via Goodreads

Quintessentially Q (Monsters in the Dark, #2)Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars!

I should write reviews just after I've finished the books. Because when the time passes, I don't feel like writing it. Unfortunately, this review is one of them. Days passed by before I could write this review so now, I'm feeling a little out my element here. I promise to not make it long!

The story of Tess and Q continues with the second book of the Monsters in the Dark Series. Their story was hard from the beginning. They didn't start their relationship in a common way. But they've been through so much in the first book. At least, that was what I thought.

Q wasn't just my master in the bedroom. He was the master of my heart.

In the second book, everything was more. It was darker, more intense, deeper, crueler, more on the edge. I loved the first book so much but in this book, I felt the connection between Tess and Q more. I also felt more connected with them. And most of all, everything that happened to Tess in the first book looked like those were just teaser yet second book is the full movie.

You stole my loneliness. I may have given you wings but you've become my gravity. I'll never be free of your force.

While reading I couldn't help but compare the first book and second with each others. And Quintessentially Q made me realize that surviving through physical pain was something but surviving through mind-games...It wasn't really survival, at all.

You think you're free when you're not restrained? You don't know me at all, esclave. You'll never be free of me. I'll never be free of you. It's fate who decides and fate gave us each other.

This book started pretty positive and hopeful. Everything was good as much as it could be with Tess and Q. They were happy in their own way, had each other.
Then, in the blink of an eye, everything turned to disaster, chaos with one mistake, one stupidity.
I was so angry at Tess about it but then, I was so sad for her. The things she'd been through in this book was just so much. I felt her pain deep in my bones.

Her cage wasn't me anymore. It was them.

But...I think everything happens for a reason. Because Tess' demons forced Q to face his own demons, forced him to do sacrifices and made him find real Quincy inside himself.
Their love, relationship turned into something more after everything. They fought against the world, against each others, against themselves and against their love.

Q was all my nightmares, fantasies and needs rolled into one bestial package. He was my drug of choice and I'd been craving him.

description

In short, I really love this book more. Generally, in the series, I love first books more because all the firsts and the introductions. But in Pepper Winters' books, I realize I love the stories with each book just more and more.

Until we learned to read and believe in each other, we were doomed.

So...If you haven't read this serial before, you should read it without waiting longer or if you've read only the first book and couldn't find the push to continue you're missing a good story here. You'll love this book! ;)
